'Vertical Move' is an original acrylic painting, on gallery-wrapped canvas depicting Spur-throated Grasshopper; most likely from the red-legged (or Melanoplus femurrubrum) species.

These grasshoppers feed on agriculture grains such as alfalfa, wheat, and barley as well as all kinds of grass, and sometimes fruit, flowers, and buds. They are related to the now extinct Rocky Mountain locust, the most significant insect pest of the 19th century Great Plains. This species averages approximately 25mm in length.

Part of Linde's 'Fauna: Tiny Backyard Aliens' series, the original painting was completed in 2016.
