Stop and smell the roses

A metaphor to remind us to be attentive to the present moment: stop and smell the roses. But for me, it’s literal. I’m compelled to kneel and stare in wonder. Beyond their brilliant colors and gentle petals, it’s teeming with life, deep among the folds. The water collects and pools there, as if they know it’s a precious resource to be saved. The tiny, backyard, aliens find sustenance and if we’re lucky they’ll, bring it back to the world of giants so our bellies may be full. The infiniteness of our universe goes both ways.
