“New Beginnings” | Acrylic on canvas, 18in. x 24in., 2006

Once a little girl
Hidden beneath mother’s desk
Quietly drawing

Gifted old pastels
Broken and magnificent
Imagine creatures

The girl grows older
Inspirations forgotten
Attention stolen

Schooling and studies
Pursuing life’s profession
Embers burning low

The brain grinds away
Peace for the soul left wanting
Success takes its toll

Work that pays in gold
But embers cry from below
Oxygen needed

Humble idea
To bestow a special gift
Paint flies cross canvas

The embers breathe deep
A soul rekindled to life
Ardent fires blaze

The brain becomes still
So much beauty to be found
Surrounding wonders

Inspiration flows
The girl will paint for the world
Work that pays in full
